The inspiration

theinspiration

We arrived in Fyrudden late last night. I had contact during the day with Simon from Theinspiration.se but when we arrived he had already gone to sleep. Luckily I met him straight away in the morning during my early shower. Before I set off I had spoken with Simon a couple of times but it’s always nice to meet in real life too. He gave me tons of good advice and spoke pretty much about fishing from the boat. He showed me this youtube video they shot during their trip.

It seems that the people on my boat are going fishing as well. Lets just pray fish like that don’t make it alive into the boat, because that would be the end of everything.

I met some other nice fellows in the harbour too. One guy had this dream-vessel. A Hallberg-Rassy 372. I got myself invited there and he was very nice this Tim. It might end up with him joining me somewhere down in Europe.

Simon said that he gained some pounds during his travel. I feel I’m going down the same path. We eat tons and don’t work out at all.

Ok. Bye!

Ghost harbour

Navionics is messing with us again. Two times it has showed harbours in the charts where none has existed. Last night we arrived at 0200 am with hopes of a pier, but in the end we had to practice the way of the anchor. It wasn’t bad though and we slept very well.

Today the winds are quite weak and from the wrong direction, so it will be hard to make headway. But the sea is smooth so it’s easy to relax and read or whatever.

We are running a bit late to the place where we are supposed to pick up next couchsurfer, but maybe that will get sorted out and fixed in due time.

Changes

Hello!
We are in Nynäshamn at the moment and I have made some changes to the homepage. You can keep yourselves updated on our position by clicking ”Our position” in the menu. I also put a small box to the right in the mainpage, but it doesn’t look good and I have to think about if I should keep it there or not. Anyway, I hope this can help the ones that want to keep track of my and the crews whereabouts.

I will make some other changes as well to the homepage but I’m not really there yet. We’ll see when I get around to do it, and how it will look when I’m finished.

I think that’s all for now. The picture is from today when we sailed from Utö to here. It was a nice trip even though the rain soaked us in the end.

No Gotland

Hello! We tried to get to Gotland yesterday but didn’t make it. We thought that the winds would be good but we misjudged that for sure. During the first couple of hours everything went well but then the winds picked up and the waves got really big. Teresa got seasick and at one point our dinghy Wasa rolled over and submerged. We managed to get her back and on the right keel, but it was stressful. We had to roll the genua in but lost speed instead. With too low speed and Gotland too far away we decided to turn back. All in all it was a tough day but a good experience I think. It’s no point sailing like that, just fighting the waves. Sofia did good though and felt safe all the way – atleast for me.

We will not make a new run for Gotland. We will go back towards mainland and head south instead to regain our confidence and lick our wounds.

Take care!
